You can tell that Hasbro must have kind of blindsided the writing crew with this princess thing. The marketing staff probably still thinks of the show like they did the old school GI…

I’m sick of complaining about it anyway.

But i will say this. A good show is engaging for both kids and adults. Kid’s will watch anything! So why should they set the standard of quality?
The episode hasn’t gone over well with a lot of people, but that’s going to happen when somebody who’s not close to a creative product steps in and makes really influential changes.

I mentioned it might turn out to be similar to Reboot. You couldn’t predict that ditching the main character in exchange for an older version of the comic relief sidekick and his girlfriend would actually turn out to be a really good choice. But the difference between this and that was that Reboot went down that path as a creative decision. It was risky, but maybe Reboot was getting old and might be cancelled soon, so the writers saw no reason not to take a chance.

With this, I think I understand why it’s so upsetting…
It still doesn’t make sense that Meghan McCarthy mentioned:
“I consider the season finale of #MLPFIM a 3-parter. #bronies just won’t get to see parts 2 and 3 for awhile. But it will be worth the wait.”
If the ending is really a 3-parter then why didn’t they show the rest? Or at the very least give some kind of cliff hanger showing that the story wasn’t over? The whole ending of the episode seem to be written as if this was it. It’s all over. They didn’t really say a single thing that would of even given the slightest hint that there was any continuity. Yet there’s a season 4 and 2 other parts to this episode.
They could of still had the whole Twilight Princess thing, and had a much better story. Marketing may have gotten involved, but I don’t think the writers handled it perfectly. Even if Hasbro had told them. No it’s 13 episodes, you can show the other two parts later. They could of at least given hints that it wasn’t completely over.
Without Meghan McCarthy and Daniel Ingrim showing us it’s not over. Outside of the show itself. We’d have no reason other than faith that the series was going to continue.
